The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced modifications to the standard operating procedure (SOP) for handling joint declarations aimed at rectifying errors in members' and employers' Universal Account Number (UAN) profiles. These amendments, effective from March 11, 2024, bring changes in the documentation required for submitting joint declarations, simplifying the process for members.
Under the revised SOP, applicants are now permitted to submit various documents, including the Aadhaar card of the member bearing father/mother’s name, PAN card, 10th or 12th marksheet with the parent’s name, and driving licence for updating their parents' names. Additionally, the SOP outlines the permissible adjustments and the corresponding documentary evidence required for correcting different aspects of the UAN profile.
Correction Scope and Documentary Proof:
The UAN profile corrections encompass a range of details, including member name, gender, date of birth, parent's name, relationship status, and more. For both minor and major corrections, applicants must provide documentary proof as per the prescribed list of documents.
Acceptable Documents for Various Corrections:
For rectifying details such as parent's name, date of birth, and name, a diverse array of documents such as birth certificates, school mark sheets, and government-issued identity cards are accepted. Similarly, specific documents like marriage certificates and resignation letters are required for updating marital status and reasons for leaving employment, respectively.
Importance of Aadhaar:
Aadhaar remains a pivotal document across various correction categories, mandating its submission for authentication purposes.
These streamlined procedures aim to expedite the correction process and enhance member convenience, ensuring accuracy and reliability in UAN profiles. By adhering to the revised SOP guidelines, EPFO seeks to facilitate seamless interactions with members, thereby bolstering operational efficiency and service delivery.
