The Union Minister of State for Personnel, Jitendra Singh, will launch a special campaign to effectively address the grievances of family pensioners. This campaign is part of the Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare's (DOPPW) 100-day action plan and will be conducted from July 1 to July 31, 2024.

Currently, around 90,000 cases are registered annually on the online Centralised Pension Grievance and Redress System (CPENGRAMS). Of these, family pension grievance cases account for about 20-25%, with a significant portion coming from women pensioners. The majority of the grievances pertain to defence pensioners, railway pensioners, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) pensioners under the Union Home Ministry. Bank-related issues also constitute a sizeable number of the grievances.

The special campaign aims to achieve a substantial reduction in the pendency of family pension grievances. It will involve the participation of Secretaries from the Departments of Pension and Pensioners Welfare, Ex-Servicemen's Welfare, the Director General of the Border Security Force, the Controller General of Accounts, the Deputy Managing Director of the State Bank of India, along with nodal public grievance officers from 46 ministries/departments, representatives from all pension-disbursing banks, and representatives of pensioners' welfare associations.

The family pension-related grievances to be addressed during the special campaign have been shortlisted from the grievances registered on the CPENGRAMS portal. As of June 15, 2024, a total of 1,891 family pension-related grievances pertaining to 46 ministries/departments/organizations have been identified for redressal during the campaign period.

The DOPPW will monitor the progress and provide all necessary assistance to the concerned administrative ministry/department/organization to ensure the effective redressal of grievances on a mission-mode approach.
