The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has put on hold inclusion of real estate investment trusts (REITs) and infrastructure investment trusts (InvITs) in Nifty indices.

The exchange has revoked its earlier order from 23 August 2021 where it had announced new eligibility criteria to allow REITs and InvITs to be included in Nifty indices from September 30.

"Few stakeholders are in discussions with NSE indices and have raised concerns regarding inclusion of REITs/InvITs in Nifty indices. These are being examined and a final decision regarding inclusion of REITs/InvITs will be taken post completion of review and discussions with stakeholders," said NSE.

Various listed REITs and InvITs like IRB InvIT Fund, Embassy Office Parks REIT, Brookfield India Real Estate Trust and Mindspace Business Parks REIT would have become part of the indexes.
